세인트존스대학 100권 책 목록 (EBS 왜 우리는 대학에 가는가)

얼마 전에 썼던 존 스튜어트 밀의 독서법과 관련이 있는 내용이 EBS에 나왔습니다. 우연히 채널을 돌리다가 멈추게 되었는데요... "왜 우리는 대학에 가는가" 5부입니다. 


그 방송 중에 미국 세인트존스 대학(St John's College) 사례가 나오는데요, 학생들이 4년동안 인문 고전을 읽고 토론을 하면 성장을 한다라는 바로 존 스튜어트 밀의 독서법이죠.


그래서 저도 어떤 책들인지 궁금해서 검색을 좀 해봤습니다. 책 리스트가 이렇게 나오네요.

일단 영어 제목 그대로 옮겨 적었는데요. 살짝 보니 대부분의 책들은 번역이 되어 있을 것 같습니다.


근데 여기서 조금 고민이 되는 것이 두가지가 있습니다.

  1. 서양 위주의 교육이다(그들 입장에서는 당연하겠지만, 우리가 적용하기에는 동양 고전도 필요하지 않을까?)
  2. 원서로 읽을 것인가? (그러면 좋겠지만 그럴 실력이 없다는게 함정. 웬지 세인트존스 대학도 원문으로 읽히는 것 같던데요)


혹시 원서로 읽으시려고 하실 분들을 위해서 ^^ 리스트는 영어로 작성된 것을 그대로 가져왔습니다.

하지만 많은 책이 한글로 번역이 되어 있는 것 같습니다 (문제는 번역의 질인데 ㅠㅠ)
